Things You Can Do While Waiting To Board Your Cruise Ship In Sydney

If you will have some time at the overseas passenger terminal at the port of Sydney before embarking on your cruise, and you are wondering how you are going to spend it, do not worry as there is plenty to see and do.

Below you will find some of the facilities and attractions that are on the doorstep of the port which will help you keep busy before it is time to start your journey and embark on your voyage.

A Walk To Sydney Opera House

If you have the time, then it is worth the 15-minute walk along the beautiful harbor front to visit this iconic landmark of Sydney. Have a coffee and enjoy the spectacular architecture, and if there’s more time to spare, you can even go on a tour.

The Rocks Market

If you are on one of the 2020 cruises from Sydney that is departing on the weekend, then you can visit this spectacular market which is only about a 5-minute walk away from the terminal. You will find a wide variety of items for sale including:

  • Jewelry
  • Textiles
  • Clothes
  • Food
  • Art
  • Gift Items

 The Museum Of Contemporary Art

The Museum Of Contemporary Art, also known as MCA, can be accessed after a 5-minute walk from the passenger terminal and is an excellent place to soak up the culture before going on your trip. With a wide variety of different exhibitions on display, there are many photo opportunities, so make sure that you bring your camera or smartphone.

Go For Something To Eat

You will also find that there are many restaurants and cafes in close vicinity to the passenger terminal, so if you fancy something to eat or drink, you are spoilt for choice.

Enjoy traditional pub fare at Claude’s Kitchen or take the kids for a treat to Pancakes on the Rocks, or you could grab a coffee and watch the world go past for a while.

There is a wide variety of different cuisines available, so no matter what your taste or budget, there is something for everyone.

Visit The Royal Botanic Gardens

Another popular destination close to the passenger terminal is the Royal Botanic Gardens, which will take about 15 minutes to walk. You can walk around the beautiful gardens, take in the Gothic Revival-style building and the classic 18th and 19th-century furniture, or visit the government house.

As well as being able to experience the beauty of the gardens, you can take in some of the modern histories of colonial Sydney and build up an appetite for when you board your cruise ship and have access to all the delicious restaurants on your all-inclusive voyage.

Fill Pre-Boarding Time

You may have a long time before you board your cruise ship or you could have only an hour to kill. However much time you have, there is plenty to see and do at the passenger terminal before you embark.

It is also an excellent way to start your trip, giving you some excellent photos and memories from the very start of your holiday.

  2. I just recently read a blog post about Sydney, and I’ve added it to my travel bucket list. I like the idea of a cruise…the Rocks Market sounds like the place for me, whether I’m waiting for cruise departure or not! 🙂
