Get a No-Fee ATM Card
If you’re traveling on a tight budget already, you don’t want to waste your hard earned cash on bank fees. Even those seemingly small $2 to $5 fees can quickly add up and put a big dent in your travel plans. Your best bet is to get a no fee ATM card so that you can save that money and use it for more adventures. Or, you can use a card that’s part of an ATM global alliance which can help eliminate the bank fees entirely.
Join a Frequent Flyer Group
If you’re traveling some distance from home, you may need to fly. And if you’re going to be flying frequently, you might as well get something extra out of it. Joining a frequent flyers program can help you get rewarded for all those flights you take.
If you’re part of a frequent flyers program you can earn miles, other perks while flying, free upgrades, or even free flights. So don’t miss out on these offers. The frequent flyer miles that you earn are like money, and you don’t want to waste money!
Stay at Hostels
Another good way to have an amazing experience while traveling is to book lodging at youth hostels instead of hotels or Airbnbs. Hostels are a lot cheaper overall, allow you to interact with fellow travelers, and maybe even provide an opportunity to meet your new best friend.
Contrary to popular belief, most hostels are nothing like the filthy party dens you many have seen in some movies. Many hostels are clean, have comfy beds, WI-FI, and some even offer a light breakfast.
Some hostels even organize traveling events, which can be a lot of fun, and you can get a lot of information about the places you are traveling. These hostels are not only for backpackers and you may even find families with children staying in hostels.
Pack Light
The first thing that any traveler will tell you is that you need to travel light. It’s been my experience that you usually don’t need half the stuff you are carrying with you. Excess luggage means you have to spend extra time and money carrying it around. You can’t really travel on public transportation if you have two large suitcases with you.
The best thing to do is carry only a backpack, and only pack essential items so you can easily move around and not have to worry about your belongings all the time.
Try Out New Foods
A great thing about traveling is all the new and unique foods you get to try out. Checking out the local street food of the country you are visiting will introduce you to exotic and new flavors. You usually end up saving money too since street food is usually cheaper than restaurants and hotels.
Create a Blog or Vlog
Many people travel the world for free, as they make money from their travel blog or vlog. Traveling the world and having fun is their full-time job. Anyone who loves to travel would want the same, so record all your experiences and create a blog or vlog of your travels to post online. People that create interesting and rich content often finance their whole trip this way.
Take a Lot of Photos
Traveling is about having a lot of fun experiences and making a lot of memories. Remember to take plenty of photos when you’re on your trip so that you have something to remember the experience by.
Visit the Local Tourism Office
Another thing that will really help you while traveling is visiting the local tourism offices. You can learn a lot of details about the area you are visiting from these offices, and you can get a lot of help in planning your itinerary while you are traveling.

Try to Get an Online Job
A great way to make sure that you always have some backup money while traveling is to get an online job. There are many types of online jobs, but one that pays well and is really popular these days is teaching English online. You can teach English to Chinese or Japanese students, and get paid quite well for it.
Keep Copies of Passport and Important Documents
While traveling, you can never be certain you won’t lose your passport or run into other problems, so it’s wise to be prepared. You should always keep extra copies of your important documents in case you lose them. A great way to make sure you always have access to your documents is to upload copies to your online drive. This way, your backups will be safe and you can access them from anywhere in the world.
Learn Important Phrases in the Local Language
Another great way to make your trip easier for you is to learn some local phrases that will help you in your travels. Try an online translation app and get a dictionary from English to the local language of the country that you are visiting so you can converse with the locals without major problems.
Conclusion
Implementing these 11 easy and budget friendly tips should help you on your way to becoming a master traveler. But the most important tip that I can give you is to enjoy yourself and have fun!
